Welcome to the Inauguration FAQ page! We are here to offer all the guidance and support you need as you get ready to participate in this historic celebration. Our goal is to ensure that you feel fully prepared and excited for the festivities ahead.
General Inauguration Audience Members
All students, alumni, employees, supporters and friends are welcome to attend the inauguration ceremony and the university-wide festivities to follow. No RSVP or ticket is required to attend the inauguration ceremony as an audience member.
Some Inauguration Week Events Are Ticketed
Please note that some inauguration-week events may be ticketed. Be sure to check specific event information for ticketing details.
Academic Processional
We continue to encourage faculty, staff & emeriti to RSVP to join the academic processional by Wednesday, September 25. Please note that you will need to bring your own academic regalia.
A. For the inauguration ceremony, RSVP requirements vary by role:
For General Audience Members, RSVP is Not Required.
Students, alumni, employees, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend the inauguration ceremony and the university-wide festivities to follow. No RSVP is required to attend these events as an audience member.
To Join the Academic Processional, RSVP is Required by Sept 25.
We continue to encourage faculty, staff & emeriti to RSVP to join the academic processional by Wednesday, September 25. Please note that you will need to bring your own academic regalia.
A. The inauguration ceremony will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, in Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall inside the Marano Campus Center. The ceremony will start at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and will be live-streamed by WTOP on SUNY Oswego’s Youtube channel and posted later for those unable to attend in person.
A. SUNY Oswego will welcome guests from far and wide to join the inauguration ceremony and celebration. Please note the changes in parking to accommodate our guests linked below.
A. The inauguration ceremony will be approximately 90 minutes long.
A: SUNY Oswego is committed to creating an accessible inauguration experience for all who attend. To request accommodations, please call the Office of Accessibility Services at 315-312-3358 or email [email protected] in advance. Be sure to provide details about your specific needs.
A. For the Inauguration, the proper attire depends on your role:
A. All offices will remain open, and classes scheduled during the ceremony will continue as planned. However, employees are encouraged to attend with their supervisor’s approval.
A. We invite everyone to share your congratulations and best wishes with President Nwosu. Leave a message, share a memory, or offer your congratulations via the buttons below. Your contribution will add a memorable touch to the celebration.

A. No. To uphold tradition and make the inauguration ceremony as festive as possible, only those in academic regalia may join the academic processional. You will need to provide your own academic regalia.
A: While faculty and staff are not required to attend the inauguration ceremony, we strongly encourage participation as audience members or academic procession participants. Your presence will help mark this special day and witness university history in the making.
