Assignments Overview, Guidelines and Resources
Academic assignments must be completed throughout the semester in order to receive academic credit or a passing grade for an Internship or Co-op experience.
While there is a minimum number of assignments, the final number is based on what internship course is being registered for and how many credits the course is for.
Any assignments, topics, and due dates will be assigned by a Faculty Sponsor and outlined in the learning agreement. Some internship courses include a full assignment outline in their syllabus.
Required Assignments and Completion Components:
Required Assignments:
- Midterm - Summary of Tasks & Responsibilities and how they will help you meet your learning objectives OR a Sponsored Assigned Project from your Faculty Sponsor
- Internship Final Summary Paper or Co-op Final Reflection
Required Completion Components:
- Monthly Internship Timesheet (Faculty Sponsor able to track monthly hours)
- Final Student Evaluation and Site Supervisor Evaluation through Suitable. (sent to Faculty Sponsor by Office of Experiential Learning)
Additional Assignments - Guidelines:
Additional Academic Assignments are in ADDITION to the required assignments and assigned by the Faculty Sponsor. How many assignments given is based on the number of credits being registered for.
Co-op or 1 credit internship - Assign at least ONE additional assignment
2-4 credit internship - Assign at least TWO additional assignments
5-7 credit internship - Assign at least THREE additional assignments
8-10 credit internship - Assign at least FOUR additional assignments
11-12 credit internship - Assign at least FIVE additional assignments

- Interview with Professionals In the Field Paper

- Eportfolio created by SUNY Oswego student Kayla Holley
- Scholarly Topic Paper(s)
- Work Samples
- Provide examples from the internship of academic concepts and theories related to the student's current program coursework (in writing or as a presentation to classes)
- Presentation or Workshop
- An industry specific project developed by the Faculty Sponsor (outlined during the learning agreement approval process)
