The selection of Brightspace was finalized by SUNY in the fall of 2021 with a system-wide implementation mandate. As part of the first cohort of campuses to transition, all SUNY Oswego courses taught or supplemented with Blackboard are being taught in Brightspace in the Fall 2022 semester. To begin the transition, some pilot courses were taught in Brightspace over the Summer 2022 semester.
The SUNY Oswego Digital Learning Environment (DLE) transition team, composed of staff from Extended Learning and CTS, has been working on the migration from Blackboard to Desire2Learn’s Brightspace learning management system (LMS) since January 2022. The LMS is just one component of a DLE. The other components include third party integrations which help enhance the LMS such as Panopto, Zoom, Starfish, inclusive access (e-text), Qwickly, i-Clicker, and more.
