Past and Present Visiting Scholars

Inviting international scholars to SUNY Oswego greatly enriches our campus. International scholars enhance the research environment, foster valuable interactions with faculty and students, and strengthen ties between SUNY Oswego and their home institutions. 

Their presence also bolsters SUNY Oswego's international reputation, making the university a hub for global academic collaboration and innovation. Scholars are funded by prestigious organizations like the Turkish Higher Education Council, the China Scholarship Council, and the Pakistani Higher Education Council. Below is a list of the scholars that are, or have been, hosted by the School of Business.

2018-2020

Shengxue He (April 2019 - March 2020)
Dr. Shengxue He is a visiting scholar from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. His research interests include transportation network modeling, transit system optimization, ITS control, and supply chain optimization. Dr. He has published 90+ research papers in these fields. He will stay at SUNY Oswego as a visiting researcher in one year and will collaborate with Professor June Dong on bus bunching and traffic network optimization problems.

Merve Yanar Gurce (March 2019 - August 2019)
Dr. Yanar Gurce comes to us from Istanbul Gedik University in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. She will be working closely with Dr. Barry Friedman, with research pertaining to consumer attitudes towards cause-brand alliances, especially on an international platform.

Esraa Said Mohamed Elghonimy (September 2018 - November 2018)
Ms. Elghonimy comes to us from Tanta University in the city of Tanta, Egypt. She will be working closely with Dr. Hema Rao with research pertaining to integration between material flow cost accounting and theory of constraint to support sustainable social responsibility.

Chaoling Jing (July 2018 - July 2019)
Dr. Jing comes to us from Tianjin University of Science and Technology in the city of Tianjin, China. He will be working closely with Dr. Graig Arcuri conducting research in Macro-economics, Risk Management, and Investment.

Yunan Wu (March 2016 - July 2016) (August 2018 - January 2019)
Dr. Wu is an Associate Professor in the International Business School at Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing, China. Dr. Wu's sponsor is Dr. June Dong and will be researching Vector Optimization-based Supply-Demand Network Equilibrium Models.

Ying Wei (August 2018 – July 2019)
Dr. Ying Wei comes to us from the School of Management, Nanchang University in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China. She will be working closely with Dr. June Dong with research pertaining to E-commerce Logistics Management and Information Integration on Mobile Devices.

Chuan-Ning Si (September 2018 - August 2019)
Dr. Si comes to us from Shandong Yingcai University in the city of Jinan, Shandog Province, P.R. China. She will be working closely with Dr. Graig Arcuri with research pertaining to Modeling International Trade Restrictiveness Indices and Dynamic Adjustment of Trade Policy in China.

Qiang Wang (August 2018 - August 2019)
Dr. Wang comes to us from the School of Finance and Business, Shanghai Normal University in the city of Shanghai, China. He will be working closely with Dr. June Dong with research pertaining to Analyzing Global Economic Stability Using Complex Adaptive System Modeling.

2017-2018

Dr. Xiancong Wu (February 2017 - February 2018)
Dr. Wu is an Associate Professor of Management, Department of Auditing Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Chongqing, China. She is pursuing research with Dr. Hong Wan on The Heterogeneity of Institutional Investors and the Impact upon Majority Shareholder Tunneling.

Dr. Bing Xu (February 2017- February 2018)
Dr. Bing Xu comes to us from the School of Management, Nanchang University in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China. He will be working closely with Dr. Ding Zhang with research pertaining to supply chain management.

Dr. Ying Wei (August 2017 - August 2018)
Dr. Ying Wei comes to us from the School of Management, Nanchang University in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China. She will be working closely with Dr. June Dong with research pertaining to E-commerce Logistics Management and Information Integration on Mobile Devices.

Dr. Junhua Qiao (August 2017 - August 2018)
Dr. Junhua Qiao comes to us from the Finance and Business School, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China. He will be working closely with Dr. June Dong with research pertaining to Network Innovation and Regional Innovation Efficiency.

Dr. Wumei Zhang (October 2017 - September 2018)
Dr. Wumei Zhang comes to us from the Centre for Modern Education Technology-Zhejiang Tongji Vocational College of Science and Technology- Hangzhou, Zejiang China. She will be working closely with Dr. June Dong with research pertaining to Supernetworks to Knowledge Management in Higher Education.

2015-2016
Dr. Narcissa Lee (December 2015-December 2016)
Dr. Wei Li is in the Division of Financial Management, Dalian Maritime University, researching the effect that firm size, level of diversification, sales scope, consumer income, labor market conditions, regulation, compliance conditions, and industry life-cycle have upon Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR). Dr. Lee's sponsor is Chuck Spector.

Dr. Licao Dai (December 2015 - December 2016)Dr. Dai is a visiting scholar in the School of Business from the University of South China. He will be working with Professor David McLain. His main area of research is Cultural Influences in Organizational Behavior high-risk industry settings.

Dr. Sheng Xu (February 2016 - December 2016)
Dr. Xu comes to us from the School of Economics, Ocean University of China in Shandong China. She will be working closely with Dr. Hong Wan and researching various aspects of corporate finance.

Dr. Yunfen Bai (August 25, 2015 - August 24, 2016)

Dr. Yunfen Bai is an associate professor in the Department of Finance, College of Business at Shanghai Normal University. Dr. Bai is being sponsored by Dr. June Dong and her research centers on the restructure of asset pricing based on liquidity.

Dr. Binghua He (August 14, 2015 - August 13, 2016)
Dr. Binghua He is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Management School at Ningbo Institute of Technology. Dr. He is being sponsored by Dr. Ding Zhang and will be researching models on the coordination of supply chain and electronic commerce networks.

Dr. Jiashun Liu (September 1, 2014 - September 1, 2015)
Dr. Jiashun Liu is an associate professor of Human Resources Management from Wuhan University of Technology. Dr. Liu is being sponsored by Dr. Ding Zhang and his research will focus on the relevance of traffic systems to the formation and evolution of metropolises.

Dr. Licai Lei (August 25, 2014 - October 9, 2014)
Dr. Licai Lei is an associate professor of business at Xiangtan University and is being sponsored by Dr. Ding Zhang. She will be pursuing research on the impact of decision-makers' behaviors on construction projects based on the behavior decision theory (BDT).

Dr. Xinru (Carol) Liang (August 17, 2014 - August 17, 2015)
Dr. Xinru Liang is an associate professor in the School of Economics and Management at the Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Dr. Liang is being sponsored by Prof. Tom Ingram and her research centers on Shame and Guilt, different roles to affective organizational commitment: a comparison between East and West.

Dr. Yanping Wen (July 16, 2014 - July 16, 2015)
Dr. Yanping Wen, an Associate Professor in the School of Finance and Business at Shanghai Normal University (SNU), is a visiting scholar in the SUNY Oswego School of Business from July 2014 to July 2015. Dr. Wen has a Ph.D. from Wuhan University. Her research is in information management in business. She will be pursuing research with Operations Management professor June Dong on e-commerce platform based enterprise. The School of Business has a 2+2 degree agreement and co-sponsors an annual student research conference with SNU. 

Dr. Yucan Liu (April 2, 2014 to April 1, 2015)
Dr. Yucan Liu, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST), received funding from the Chinese Ministry of Education, to be a visiting scholar in the SUNY Oswego School of Business from April 2, 2014 to April 1, 2015. Dr. Liu's research is in empirical finance, specifically in the areas of IPO abnormal return, idiosyncratic volatility, the investment behavior of open-ended funds and corporate finance in the Chinese securities market. Dr. Liu will be pursuing research with Finance faculty member Dr. Hong Wan. The School of Business has a 2+2 degree agreement with NUST. Dr. Liu is the third NUST faculty member to pursue research at SUNY Oswego.

Dr. Binfeng Chai (February 1, 2014 - August 31, 2014)
Dr. Binfeng Chai is a professor at the School of Accounting and Finance at Zhejiang Gongshang University. Dr. Chai will be working closely with Dr. Hong Wan, undertaking research on private enterprise, corporate governance and financial management while here at SUNY Oswego.

2013-2014

Syed Tahir Rizvi (January 1, 2014 - July 1, 2014)
Professor Rizvi is a lecturer in the faculty of management sciences at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan. Mr. Rizvi received funding from the Higher Education Commission to pursue research at SUNY Oswego. He is researching Organization Justice and his faculty host is Dr. John Huonker.

Dr. Wenqi Jiang (May 2013-May 2014)
Dr. Wenqi Jiang is a faculty member in the School of Economics and Management at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Hosted by Ding Zhang, Dr. Jiang will be conducting research on decision-making methods and service management, with particular applications to transportation ticket allocation methods.

Ms. Wenjing (Sherry) Cai (April 1, 2013 - March 31, 2014)
Ms. Wenjing Cai is a doctoral candidate at Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, China. She received an award from the China Scholarship Council to pursue research in the United States. Ms. Cai's research interests will focus on Emergency Management in Network Economics and Supply Chain Management. Dr. Ding Zhang is the faculty sponsor.

Dr. Yongyue Wang (April 3, 2013 - March 31, 2014)
Dr. Yongyue Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Business Administration at Zhejiang Gongshang University in China. Dr. Wang's research interests will focus on the psychological contract breach and voice behavior in an organization with SUNY Oswego faculty as part of the Zhejiang Gongshang University Blue Sky grant program. Dr. Barry Friedman is the faculty sponsor.

2012-2013

Ms. Nousheen Tariq Bhutta (June 20, 2013-December 14, 2013) 
Ms. Bhutta is from Punjab, Pakistan. Ms. Bhutta will undertake research with SUNY Oswego faculty as part of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) International Research Support Initiative Program. Ms. Bhutta will be working closely with Dr. Sarfraz Mian on Corporate Entrepreneurship, Agency Cost and Firm Performance: Evidence from Developed and Developing Economics. Dr. Mian is the faculty sponsor.

Dr. Jianxiao Chen (August 2012 - August 2013)
Dr. Jianxiao Chen is an Associate Professor in the School of Economics and Management at Chang'an University. Dr. Chen's research interests will focus on supply chain management and business dynamic competition relationship management. Dr. Chen's visit is being funded by the China Scholarship Council.

Dr. Zhan-Xia Wu (June 2012 - August 2013)
Dr. Zhan-Xia Wu is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade (SIFT) in Shanghai, China. While at SUNY Oswego, Dr. Wu will be working on transfer pricing, taxes, and the quality of accounting information.

Dr. Zeynep Hatunoglu (June 2012 - May 2013)
Dr. Zeynep Hatunoglu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in Kahramanmaraş/Turkey. Funded by the Turkish Higher Education Council, she will be researching cost accounting, auditing, and International Financial Reporting Standards, in particular Section 28 which deals with Employee Benefits.

Dr. Jianjia He (January 2013 - April 2013)
Dr. Jianjia He is a lecturer from the Business School at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Dr. He is also the Assistant Director for the Center for Supernetworks Research in China. He will be undertaking research on Supernetwork-Based Internet Social Supply and Demand Network Analysis with SUNY Oswego faculty as part of the USST grant program. Dr. June Dong is the faculty sponsor. 

Dr. Nermine Atteya (January 2012 - January 2013)
Dr. Nermine Atteya is an Associate Professor of Management at the Modern Academy for Computer Science and Management Technology in Cairo. Dr. Atteya is pursuing several research projects including "Testing the Effects of the Nurses' Perceptions, Attitudes, and Behavior toward Patient Satisfaction on the Total Quality Service Improvement (TQSI) Implementation in Hospitals" and "Total Quality Service: Exploring the Relationship between the Patient Expectations of the Quality of Hospital Services and Patient Satisfaction." Her faculty sponsor is Dr. David McLain.

2011-2012

Dr. Nergis Aziz (January 2011 - July 2012)
Dr. Nergis Aziz is a Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences in the Department of Business Administration at Suleyman Sah University in Istanbul, Turkey. She received a Ph.D and Masters in International Business from Marmara University. Her research interests are in positioning, integrated marketing communications, and branding. Dr. Aziz is funded by the North East Turkish American Scholars Foundation.

Dr. Honglin Yang (October 2011 - October 2012)
Dr. Yang is an Associate Professor in the School of Administration and Business at Hunan University, Hunan China. While at SUNY Oswego, Dr. Yang will be working on the following research projects: timescale characteristics of financial assets, inter-temporal dynamic risk evaluation and investment decision, heterogeneous investor behavior and expected utility function design.

Dr. Sun Shusheng (August 2011 - June 2012)
Dr. Shusheng is a visiting scholar from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in China. During her time here, Dr. Shusheng will be working closely with Dr. Ding Zhang researching theories and methods of regional logistical management.

Prof. Jun Ma (June 2010 - June 2012)
Professor Jun Ma is a lecturer in Management at Shenyang University of Technology in Shenyang, China. His research interests are in operations management and transportation networks. Professor Ma is funded by the Chinese Higher Education Council.

Dr. Wadid Lamine (October 2011 - January 2012)
Dr. Lamine is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Champagne School of Management - Troyes, France. While at SUNY Oswego, Dr. Lamine explored the following research topics: "Building Modern Regional Innovation Platforms: Evidence from the US and French STP Models", "Do Entrepreneur's Social Skill Sets Contribute to Innovative New Ventures?" and "The Performance Determinants of Technology Business Incubators".

Ali Cuneyt Cetin (February 2011 - October 2011)
Dr. Ali Cuneyt Cetin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at Suleyman Demirel University in Turkey. He received his MBA and Ph.D from Suleyman Demirel University. Dr. Cetin has research interests in financial institutions; he researched investment trusts while he was here. Dr. Cetin is funded by the Turkish Higher Education Council.

2010-2011

Soner Akkoc (January 2010 - January 2011)
Professor Akkoc is from the Department of Banking and Finance at Dumlupinar University, Kutahya, Turkey. Dr. Akkoc's research interests included investment analysis, efficient capital markets, neural networks, and fuzzy logic. His goal was to apply neural networks to credit scoring models for derivative securities, such as CDs, CDOs, CMOs, and MBSs.

Jie Guo (January 2010 - January 2011)
Professor Guo is from the School of Management at Min Zu University of China. Dr. Jie's research interests were in project risk management and operations management. She researched suitable principles, methods and models for operation, and crisis management with special applications for minorities in China while at SUNY Oswego.

2009-2010

Nianyong Wang (November 2009 - November 2010)
Professor Wang is from the School of Banking and Insurance at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Professor Wang conducted research in collaboration with faculty in the areas of financial liberalization, financial reform, China's financial reform history, Chinese securities, and market history.

2008-2009

Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah (January 2009 - July 2009)
Professor Shah is from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Islamabad. Professor Shah conducted research and collaborated with faculty in the areas of corporate governance, market efficiency, ownership structure, financial reporting, and earnings and performance evaluation of firms.

Yuan Hui (January 2009 - July 2009)
Professor Hui is from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Professor Hui conducted research and collaborated with faculty in the area of risk management and insurance.

Zhengcai Liu (August 2008 - February 2009)
Professor Liu is from Shanghai Normal University. Professor Liu conducted research and collaborated with faculty in the area of international business and enterprise management.

Lingjie Meng (March 2008 - July 2008)
Professor Meng is from Nanjing University of Science & Technology. Professor Meng conducted research and collaborated with faculty in the areas of productivity and efficiency analysis and quantitative methodology.

Chaoyang Zhou (August 2007 - June 2008)
Professor Zhou is from Wuhan University of Technology. Professor Zhou conducted research and collaborated with faculty in the areas of theory and method of financial management, financing, cost management and control, taxation laws and tax planning, and internal accounting control.
