Our ranking reflects the expertise of our faculty, the support services provided by the MBA Office, the quality of our MBA students, the expertise of the Extended Learning instructional design team, and the commitment to online learning provided by the university.

Community and International Commitment

We are committed to expand international experiences for students, to reach out to part-time students, and to be fully engaged in regional economic development. Students have an opportunity to present research at QUEST, an annual campus symposium, and at a student research conference that alternates between SUNY Oswego and Shanghai Normal University. We offer a range of online classes for students unable to attend classroom based courses. Subject area knowledge is applied to benefit the community in projects ranging from volunteer tax assistance, to HRM audits and marketing campaigns for regional organizations.

Tools to Succeed

A talented and experienced team of faculty and administrative staff helps shape and guide an outstanding experience for our students. Spreadsheet and writing skills are integrated throughout the curriculum. Students have access to a Bloomberg terminal for financial and business research. See information about changing to a major within the School of Business or transferring into our program.

Our History

In 1969, a program in business administration began at SUNY Oswego. Originating as a concentration in economics, the program gained tremendous popularity and continued to develop.

Subsequent approval by the State University of New York permitted the awarding of a bachelor of science degree starting in 1974. Since this time, the business administration department changed and expanded to meet the demand of the students.

In July 1992, the business administration department was reorganized into the renamed School of Business. In October 2002, the School of Business achieved accreditation by the prestigious AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In August 2003, the School of Business moved into the newly refurbished and state-of-the-art Rich Hall. In 2025, the School of Business was renamed the College of Business and Entrepreneurship.

The College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a range of undergraduate programs, several interdisciplinary programs, an MBA and combined five-year BS/MBA and BS/masters of programs to approximately 1,650 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. Housed in renovated Rich Hall, our classes provide practical skills and project-based learning to complement theory, with a strong and successful alumni network that can help you during and after your college years. Graduate students have the option of taking classes online or at the Metro Center branch campus in downtown Syracuse.
