Nathan Eaton teaches fundamental graphic design concepts and strategies with a focus on interaction design. He brings 20 years of industry and 13 years of instruction experience to the classroom. His students work on real world exercises with an emphasis on design theory and semiotic analysis.

Nathan’s design career began at stressdesign. Working for a small design studio offered the rare opportunity of creating and maintaining brand identities from ideation to fruition. During his time as a commercial designer, Nathan’s responsibilities have included publications, corporate collateral, identity systems, web interfaces, interaction design, presentation design and motion graphics. His work has received numerous accolades from prestigious organizations such as American Corporate Identity, American Graphic Design Award, PICA Award, and REBRAND 100. He has also been an in-house creative director and maintained a successful design business of his own, innate design.

Nathan received his MFA in Graphic Design at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2019 and his BFA in graphic design from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2006. He began his teaching career at Onondaga Community College at the age of 25, only three years after receiving his undergraduate degree. He taught graphic design at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at the undergraduate and graduate level from 2015-2022. A student at heart, he maintains the philosophy that we are all students of life, for life. Never stop the pursuit of knowledge and always nourish your curiosities.
