Research

Through my work, I strive to permeate moments of revelation as if they were amorphous objects. As I dissect and interpret a moment it becomes cataloged in my mind until it is processed into an organized thought that in turn becomes my artwork. My work often explores the them of Nature vs Human Nature or the dichotomies or contrasts within "self". I use the bookform to embody all of the processes I am passionate about; writing, graphic design, photography, printmaking, etc..., to narrate my investigation. The book becomes the vessel that may contain moving images, still images, and pages that may be linear or nonlinear, yet it is always a repository of the experience. Whether I employ layers as metaphors demonstrating the complexity of human struggle, or to emulate/create tactile surfaces, the abstraction of the experience provides an investigation of the moment.
