Biography

Juan Perdiguero, originally from Madrid, Spain, is a mixed media artist whose work combines photography and drawing. He holds a BFA (painting and art conservation) and a MFA from Madrid Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain. He earned an n MFA at SUNY Buffalo, Buffalo, New York. He is currently a PhD Candidate in Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain. Perdiguero is a Professor in drawing at SUNY Oswego Department of Art and Design. 

Before becoming a university professor, he was the Head Conservator at YSR studio, in New York City, where he restored paintings for national and international art galleries, art collectors, museums and auction art houses. Previous to this he worked as a free-lance assistant, in the painting department, at the ICROA (institute for the Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art) in Madrid, Spain.

He has lectured extensively about his creative work nationally and internationally. He has been a visiting artist and professor, among many other national and international institutions, at the School of Fine Arts, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the School of Fine Arts, Universidad Complutense and the School of Art and Design, Universidad Europea, Madrid, Spain; School of the Arts, Universidad Finis Terrae, Santiago, Chile; Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China; Department of Visual Arts. Universidad Autonoma de Morelos, Cuernavaca and Universidad Autonoma de Mexico, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; School of Art and Design, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan; College of Visual and Performing Arts, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, Rhode Island School of Design Foundations Program, Providence, Rhode Island, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Research 

Juan Perdiguero's research interests are in contemporary, mixed media drawing, classical drawing, interdisciplinary drawing approaches merging with photography, painting and printmaking. He also has an interest in contemporary cross-cultural visual culture. human and animal psychology and contemporary trends in easter-wester mysticism and philosophy.

His work is in numerous public, private and corporate collections including those of the Castellani At Museum (Niagara Falls, New York), The Burchfield-Penney Art Center, (Buffalo, New York), MEAM (Museum of Contemporary Figurative Art, Barcelona, Spain) and the David Bowie Art collection (London, UK)

Awards and honors 

He has been awarded numerous grants and fellowships and has been invited to numerous international artist residencies including Fulbright Scholar Grant, SUNY Oswego Presidential Award, The SCAC Grant, Artworks! National Residency from CEPA Gallery, Buffalo, New York; the Art Matters Inc. fellowship, New York; the Hangar Barcelona International residency, Kanaal 10 Amsterdam International Artist in Residence program, Fundacion Valparaiso, Almeria, Spain, Kaus Australis, Rotterdam, The Netherlands etc.
