Responsibilities of the Workgroup focus on promoting a campus culture of accessibility by sharing contemporary accessibility tools and techniques through workshops, training, and publications. The team of campus accessibility experts works together to anticipate, troubleshoot, support, and resolve the practical needs of our campus community.
Goals
- Support our diverse campus population by focusing on proactive practices that result in the creation of accessible content in order to reduce the need for individuals to request accommodations or disclose disabilities.
- Empower the campus community to overcome unique barriers to access by offering a regular forum to discuss and develop solutions.
- Teach the campus community how to design and create accessible digital communications and materials.
- Facilitate the creation of accessible media by providing tutorials and other on-demand resources on our website.
- Ease the transition to accessible materials by creating and distributing templates for documents and presentations.
- Coordinate advocacy, educational and professional development initiatives identified by the campus IT Accessibility Steering Committee.
