Artist Statement

I create mainly autobiographical pieces, with a distinct reference to loss and undertones of death as a theme. I enjoy incorporating text in my pieces because I have always been drawn to how strong an impact words can have. It seems anyone's perception of a work of art can be completely altered just by the incorporation of a single word. In painting and working mainly with mixed media, it is always a joy of mine to simply create a physical depiction of my interests and what I am feeling. Though my current subject matter may seem grim, my main goal is always to mimic my own inner feelings. Therefore, I will always be moving into a different realm of subject matter while maintaining a natural and neutral color palette.
