Michael McPartlin

Michael McPartlin, usually referred to as Mike, was born in Lindenhurst, New York on Long Island. At the young age of seven he moved to upstate New York, about thirty minutes outside Albany. Shortly after he made friends with people from the area, and at about age ten, he and one other of his friends picked up photoshop. Since then Mike has not put the program down, and has picked up several others along the way. Eleven years later, Michael is on track to graduate from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Minor in Photography.

I intended to create a sense of longing through cool and warm tones. I wanted each photo of the set to seem like it could be a captured frame from cinema, using isolated lighting in the outside world to try to give a cinematic feeling without being on a movie set or having the equipment to do so. That's usually my thought process when photographing outside. In my portrait work, I tried to do the same with Bryan's photos to give a more warm and personable feeling to the viewer. I was also attempting to make the color scheme old school as if you're viewing pictures of a relative from the past. For the photos of Taiheid, I wanted to look as professional as possible. It was one of the first times I tried doing studio portraiture, and I am proud of the outcome.
