Biography
Alexsa Gonzalez (Lexi) is a non-binary graphic designer and illustrator from Stillwater, NY, a very small town in Upstate New York. Despite being on the Autism spectrum, they have achieved so much in their art career and in their own personal growth. Getting their start at SUNY Adirondack, they got their feet wet with college work and socializing more with others before graduating with an Associate's Degree in Media Arts and transferring to SUNY Oswego to finish up their degree to learn more about who they are and what they want to do. Being very inspired by pop culture, their work is very colorful and interactive; commenting about their own experiences as an individual and showing off their interests in the process. With these interests in mind, they plan to open up a small shop selling buttons, pins, and eventually, prints.
Artist Statement
I've been drawing since I was a kid. As someone on the spectrum, who wouldn't be drawing their hyperfixation? My mind revolved around Sonic the Hedgehog, and as silly as it sounds, it's what helped me start exploring my love for art! I drew Sonic characters all the time, and it would be the only thing I would talk about. I love creating not only for myself but for others as well. I drew for other people from their characters to celebrating what media I consume, and seeing their reaction from real life and social media would make my day even better. This is what encouraged me to create more.
My illustrations and designs show my diversity in styles while showing a little bit of me now and then with my color choices. I feel bright and colorful reflects my personality once you really get to know who I am but also I really like to get the sense of what I am experiencing through my inspirations.
