Artist Statement

While studying at SUNY Oswego, I had gotten the chance to work with an abundance of different mediums. However, Ceramics has always been my medium of choice ever since high school.

Making pieces out of clay can be very therapeutic for me. My work is inspired by many different ceramic artists that I have researched. I like to add my twist and personality to the art I make. Sometimes, I start drawing, and I end up coming up with new potential project ideas.

I enjoy making pieces that people have never seen before. For this exhibition, my collection of work celebrates nature, as well as how light can react with ceramics.

My goal as an artist is to create unique and expressive pieces. To me, it’s important to create art in which you are proud of and passionate about and can learn and grow from and to inspire others.
This piece is wall piece. This work of art is made up of three pieces, two which fit and overlap each other. The third piece however is not attached to the others, so it can be positioned to the individuals liking. The main focus of this piece has a very unique and abstract inside made up tiny pocked holes, while the outside is simplified so that the eye is drawn to the center of this piece.

This is a wall piece made up of throw bowls (all different sizes and shapes) that were rendered to create a more organic looking feel to them. This piece was a very experimental piece, so that glazes used was applied in a very painterly way. I also used the element of glass which fused in the bottom of my piece. The glass ended up creating great contrast throughout my piece.
