Biography

Casey Iannuzzi is an artist from Huntington, NY, who works both in digital and traditional media. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design and a minor in illustration, she chose to go in this direction when she took a graphic arts class in high school. Casey has loved making art her whole life and has been taking art classes since she was nine years old. Starting as an illustrator and life drawer, she soon became very well-rounded in a variety of art forms during her time at SUNY Oswego. She has taken classes ranging from painting, drawing, ceramics, screen printing, digital media, photography, and multimedia. In high school, she earned an Art Recognition Award for Drawing, and in her junior year of college, she was featured in the 57th Juried Art Exhibition. Having worked with children for the past few summers as a camp counselor and working as a teaching assistant for At The Art Studio, she has decided that her heart is in teaching and plans to pursue an MAT once she graduates with her undergraduate degree.

Artist Statement

The first memory I have of this life is painting something on an easel in preschool. Since then, art has been a huge part of my personality. I fell out of it for a while, but thanks to my amazing art teachers in high school, I grew to love it again, and I have my college professors to thank for keeping that passion lit in me and for pushing me forward. As someone who often has little to say, I found that creating art helps give people an idea of who I am and what goes on in my mind. I'm influenced by music, the odd side of life, and the spiritual world. I grew so much here at SUNY Oswego. I strengthened the skills I came with and gained so many new ones along the way.

ART 409 (Multimedia II)
An animation of three traditional illustrations side by side. These illustrations, done in graphite, are historical-like portraits with a creepy twist to them. The first one is of a man who is half zombie, tilting his head back and forth with his eye occasionally rolling backwards. The second is of a boy who is a clown, who is laughing throughout the animation. The third one is of a girl who has her skin melting off, revealing her facial muscles, and she is screaming.

Inspired by the nothing, nowhere song life eater. Two skeletons kissing with dead roses beneath them. The background is similar to that of a glitching television, and the lyrics “Just tell me you love me, fuck all the rest” border the top and bottom of the illustration.
