Abby O'Reilly

Abby O'Reilly was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. She is currently a Graphic Design BFA major at SUNY Oswego but is experimenting with Sculpture and Illustration, as well. Her passion for culture and fashion always makes an appearance in her projects. She is continually researching the latest trends in different areas of the arts. She grew up drawing and always envisioned herself being an artist or veterinarian. She is still trying to find a happy blend between her traditional 3D and digital work. Her ultimate goal would be to create a brand that encourages world peace and equality through fashion, graphic design, and sculpture. Her most significant achievement to date would be her BFA show. Upon graduating, Abby plans to travel and expand her portfolio to achieve her ultimate goal, a career in the arts.

I made this piece for this exhibition because I love what is happening right now in culture and fashion: bright colors, sustainability, and self-expression. My inspiration came from studying art, fashion, and cultures in different countries and, of course, Instagram. I intend this work to make the viewer feel inspired and happy about the future. What is happening in our culture right now is revolutionary. In essence, the rights of all people and all animals and the environment we live in to coexist peacefully comes closer every day. I made this work to display what I have learned in my undergraduate career, with the influence of global culture and fashion. I have investigated what is happening in design and technology and attempted to express my version.
