What is TRIO SSS?

As the newest Opportunity Program on campus, TRIO Student Support Services SSS serves as a comprehensive success network for first-generation students, students with financial need, and students with disabilities.

The program empowers its members through personalized academic advising, financial literacy workshops, and dedicated tutoring partnerships. By extending support beyond the classroom with career readiness preparation, graduate school exploration, and cultural excursions, TRIO SSS provides the community and resources necessary for students to excel from their first day on campus through graduation and into their future professional lives.

TRIO's Mission

TRIO Student Support Services SSS program at SUNY Oswego is dedicated to increasing student retention and graduation rates by providing comprehensive academic support through tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities. Serving first-generation students, students with financial need, and students with disabilities, the program promotes academic achievement, persistence, and a sense of belonging on campus.

Eligibility

Eligibility for TRIO is determined by federal regulations. To qualify, a student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and meet one or more of the following criteria:

Be a first-generation college student, which means neither of your parents has completed a four-year degree (Bachelor's)
Household income is at or below 150% of federal income guidelines
Have documented disability status with SUNY Oswego Accessibility Resources Office
