Triandiflou Institute Faculty Fellowship

The Triandiflou Institute Faculty Fellowship position is open to tenure and tenure track faculty at Oswego who are completing projects based in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Transformative Practice. These can include, but are not limited to, scholarly projects, academic affairs initiatives, and curricular work.

The goal of this fellowship is to provide time and resources for the Fellow conducting these projects to enhance the quality of education for students at SUNY Oswego and foster their success in and beyond the campus. Another goal is to ensure faculty work on campus is highlighted for its own intellectual richness. At its core, this fellowship seeks to ensure that this work is recognized for its contribution to SUNY Oswego. In this way, this fellowship’s innovative vision challenges trends across academia of utilizing the work of faculty in DEISJ initiatives while simultaneously submerging and obfuscating the originators of it.

Details of Fellowship

The term of the Faculty Fellow will be two semesters. Faculty fellows will receive support during their fellowship. Resources will be in the form of working with Institute staff when/where appropriate and as demarcated by mutual agreement, as well as possibilities for course time release, professional development funds, and/or financial remunerations. The resources made available will be dependent on the needs of the project at hand and the kinds of support that will lead to successful completion.

Beyond the stated project, the responsibilities of the Faculty Fellow are:

  • Attendance at Institute meetings and retreats, with frequency to be determined in
    coordination with the Institute Director
  • Participation/Attendance in the CDIO Advisory Committee, with attendance and role to
be determined in coordination with the CDIO and Institute Director
  • Semester Progress Reports, to be submitted to the Institute Director and
Provost/Appropriate Administrator. These reports should provide overviews of the tasks completed, projected timelines for those still underway, and any created materials that might be of service for documentation of completed work
  • Faculty Outreach, to be determined based on projects during timeframe of fellowship.

Advertisement for faculty fellows will begin at least one full semester prior to their joining the Institute when possible. Faculty Fellows will be selected from a pool of applicants from a committee comprised of the Institute Director, Provost/Appropriate Administrative Office Representative, and Former Institute Fellow(s). Successful candidates will be notified prior to the end of the semester preceding their start and receive assistance during that same semester from the outgoing fellow to understand logistics of onboarding and to provide assistance with getting started.

Required Application Materials

Applicants should submit a CV and a proposal for intended areas of focus during the fellowship. The proposal should highlight the synergies between the applicant’s desired areas of focus, the ongoing work of the institute, and the university’s overarching priorities related to diversity and inclusion.
