Faculty Profile
As a faculty of color and a foreigner, my own experiences in a variety of academic settings provided me with different perspectives on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). I am eager to contribute to an equal and just environment in higher education that not only embraces DEI but also truly treasures it. My project for the Triandiflou Institute Faculty Fellowship aims to enhance the DEI of a general education course BIO 341 Plants and Society by including more ethnobotanical knowledge from non-dominant and/or traditionally marginalized societies and more diverse author identities that provide more non-European perspectives. SUNY Oswego students who take BIO 341 will be more aware of the fact that societies all over the world have contributed to the cultivation and breeding of plants and the application of plant materials that are fundamental to the survival and development of the global society.
