Sheldon Institute

July 25 - August 5, 2022

The 43rd annual Sheldon Institute addresses the academic and cultural needs of inquisitive and creative students. The program is comprised of two weeks during which students who will be entering grades two through ten will be instructed by college professors, public school teachers and experienced practitioners.  The program will operate for two weeks, from July 25 - August 5, 2022, Monday through Friday, Program time 9:00 am - 4:00 pm on the SUNY Oswego campus.

  • A box lunch will be available for all students. 
  • Complimentary childcare will be provided before and after Sheldon Institute.  Before care 8:00 am - 9:00 am, after care 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
  • One Week Attendance: $160
  • Two Week Attendance: $320
  • The choice of courses will return this year for the Junior and Senior age groups!

The Sheldon Institute for Barbara Shineman Scholars is comprised of two weeks of programming. 

Schedule and Courses

The Sheldon Institute offers four separate divisions - Novice, Intermediate, Junior, and Senior Divisions.

Grades 2 & 3


The Novice Division welcomes children entering grades 2 and 3. The Novice teachers work together as a team to develop and teach the curriculum. 

Grades 4 & 5


The Intermediate Division is for 4th and 5th grade students and will provide a little more supervision than the upper two divisions. They will have classes that have been pre-selected for their age and abilities.

Grades 6 & 7


The Junior Division is comprised of students entering grades 6 & 7.

Grades 8 - 10


The Senior Division is geared towards students entering grades 8-10. 

Each day’s activities for the Junior and Senior Divisions are divided into four, 90 minute workshop periods that provide opportunities for each student to investigate and explore in depth their areas of interest.


The Sheldon Institute for Barbara Shineman Scholars is comprised of two weeks of programming. 

Student applications must be fully completed and all required forms and payment submitted to complete the registration process. One student per registration form. We appreciate your participation in the Sheldon Institute for Barbara Shineman Scholars program and look forward to another exciting year!

If a student needs to withdraw, a refund will be issued, less $30.00, provided we receive written notification of the cancellation one week prior to the start of the program. Refund requests received after this date will be for 50% of full tuition, through Friday, July 16th 2021. After July 16th, no refunds will be given.
