External Engagement

  • Attended the SUNY Presidents’ meeting in Albany.
  • Participated in meetings of the SUNY Legal Accountability Committee as a committee member.
  • Participated in the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) meeting with presidents, provosts, accreditation liaison officers, and system representatives via Zoom.
  • Participated in the NCAA Presidents’ and Chancellors’ meeting via Zoom.
  • Attended the SUNY Presidents’ Comprehensive Sector meeting via Zoom.
  • Participated in SUNY’s Academic Momentum meeting via Zoom.
  • Participated as a board member on the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) Management Development and Compensation Committee via Zoom.
  • Attended the SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Presidents’ meeting via Teams.
  • Participated in the College President for Civic Preparedness meeting via Zoom.
  • Attended the annual meeting of Presidents and Chancellors of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in Nashville, TN, where I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors. Also participated in the session spotlighting SUNY Oswego titled, “The Resilient Future Plan,” facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Latino of EAB; chaired the Committee on Student Success meeting; attended the Student Success Equity Intensive (SSEI) Impact & Sustainability Summit and served on the Presidential Leadership Panel: Leading for Student Success. In addition, I participated in the Board Organizational and New Member Orientation meeting held in early December via Zoom.
  • Participated as a member in the Operation Oswego County Board of Directors meeting.
  • Delivered the keynote address titled: From Roots to Routes: African Retentions and the New Diasporic Identity in America, at SUNY Binghamton’s conference on The New African Diaspora: Intersections of Culture, Race, and Identity, sponsored by the Mellon Foundation, Binghamton Office of the President, and the Department of Africana Studies.
  • Participated in GlobalMindED’s 2025 United Nations conference in New York City.
  • Traveled to Washington, D.C. for SUNY Advocacy Day, meeting with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s staff, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s staff, Congressman John Mannion and his staff, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and her staff, and Congressman Nick Langworthy. Was accompanied by Assistant Vice President for Workforce Innovation and External Relations Kristi Eck and Director of Operations in the Office of the President Jamal Coleman.
  • Attended the Empire State Services Corps (ESSC) Summit in Albany. Twenty-nine SUNY Oswego students are participating in the ESSC program.
  • Participated in the Middle States Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Participated in the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council public and executive meetings at Delphi Fall County Park.
  • Hosted a visit to SUNY Oswego by CenterState CEO’s President Rob Simpson, Senior Vice President of Membership Jess Abbot, and Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sara Broadwell.
  • Met with Cheryl Baldwin, the chief executive officer of the Oswego YMCA.
  • Led a meeting with Oswego County superintendents to strengthen SUNY Oswego’s partnerships with the school districts, joined by College of Education, Health and Human Services Dean Laura Spenceley; Executive Director of Career Services Jennifer Hill; Assistant Vice President Eck; Vice President for Academic and Provost Scott Furlong; Vice President for Marketing and Communications Karen Crowe; Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management Rick Buck; College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Engineering (CLASE) Dean Kristin Croyle; Deputy to the President for Strategy, Planning, and Special Projects Murat Yaşar; and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Met with Executive Director Jody Manning of the Syracuse STEAM High School.

Internal Engagement

  • Held ongoing meetings with faculty, staff, and students across the university.
  • Continued weekly Cabinet and one-on-one meetings with senior leadership.
  • Presented the President’s Report at the University Council meeting.
  • Chaired meetings of the President’s Council, Budget Advisory Group and the President’s Facilities Planning Committee.
  • Provided a comprehensive charge to the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, outlining key priorities, expectations, and timelines to guide the next phase of the institution’s strategic initiatives.
  • Hosted faculty and staff drop-in session at Chiu Atrium.
  • Conducted strategic leadership meetings with the university’s deans focused on budget, micro-credentials, and the Syracuse Campus, among other items.
  • Met with faculty from the following departments of the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Engineering (CLASE): Economics, Modern Languages, Sociology, and Political Science, accompanied by Dean Croyle, Deputy to the President Yaşar, and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Met with faculty in the following departments of the College of Communications, Media and the Arts (CCMA), accompanied by Dean Jennifer Knapp, Music Department, accompanied by College of Communications, Media, Deputy to the President Yaşar, and Director of Operations Coleman: Music, and Art and Design.
  • Met with faculty in the Career and Technical Education Department, accompanied by Dean Spenceley, Deputy to the President Yaşar, and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Served as a guest lecturer in Dr. Bennet Schaber’s World Cinema class, where I guest-lectured on “Nollywood,” Africa’s growing film industry, examining its history, cultural influence, and global importance.
  • Hosted a Student Association leadership dinner at Shady Shore with Vice President for Student Affairs Kathleen Kerr, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Gabriel Marshall, Director of Student Engagement Vanessa Taylor, and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Delivered welcome remarks at the Fall Open House.
  • Led and facilitated Oswego County’s Micron Strategy Steering Committee meeting via Zoom.
  • Held meetings with Faculty Assembly Chair Gwen Kay, Vice Chair Andrea Vickery, and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Scott Furlong as part of our shared governance process.
  • Led and delivered the opening remarks at SUNY Oswego’s inaugural Central New York Transfer Summit, joined by Onondaga Community College President Warren Hilton, Jefferson Community College President Daniel Dupree, and SUNY Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Bart Grachan. Richard Finger, vice president for Enrollment Management at Lehman College, delivered the keynote presentation.
  • Delivered remarks at the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Rise Kickoff event, led by Nichole Brown, director of the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services.
  • Provided the welcome remarks at the Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Promotion Conference, an event led by Interim Dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE) Kristen Eichhorn and CLASE Dean Croyle.
  • Attended and delivered the opening remarks at the 21st Annual Lewis B. O’Donnell Media Summit.
  • Hosted and moderated the Annual Sheldon Lecture on Leadership and Service featuring Sally Librera, president of National Grid New York.
  • Led the official ribbon-cutting and formal opening of the new Hewitt Hall.
  • Attended the alumni reunion dinner for the College of Communication, Media, and the Arts.
  • Attended the African Student Organization’s Annual Pan-Africa event in Sheldon Ballroom.
