Physical therapists (D.P.T.) work with patients who are recuperating from injuries, illness, and/or surgery to help them regain range of movement and manage pain.

Starting with your first semester of college, you are accumulating the credentials to apply to DPT programs. Applicants are expected to have:
- Completed a bachelor's degree in any major
- Completed prerequisite course requirements (see below)
- Earn very good grades; overall and science GPAs should be at least a 3.3
- Earn a good score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
- Obtain individual letters of recommendations, including one from a DPT that you shadowed
