Dr. Furlong received his Ph.D. in Political Science and M.P.A. from American University. He teaches courses in American government, public policy, and higher education leadership and policy. His research interests focus on regulatory policy and rulemaking and the institutions and actors that impact decision making in this arena. Dr. Furlong came to SUNY Oswego in 2017 and spent 8 ½ years as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs focusing on issues related to student success, high impact practices, curriculum development, team building, and creating a collaborative, data driven decision making environment.
