Linea Cutter's research interests encompass political theory, health politics, and critical nutrition studies. Through the lens of critical and feminist approaches to the study of power, her research investigates how norms related to diet and fitness practices reflect popular understandings of the relationship between the body, individual agency, and willpower. Similar to Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin's famous phrase "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are," Linea's research agenda examines the widespread notion that bodies are materially substantiated by and reducible to the sum of individual food choices.

Linea teaches courses in political theory that examine how different theorists define and understand societal order, political agency, and freedom of choice. Her courses often explore the ways that different forms and technologies of power shape how individuals relate to their bodies and each other. Linea also teaches courses in the Gender and Women's Studies Program, with a focus on feminist social and political thought, especially feminist writings on embodiment and health.

Prior to joining the Department of Politics at SUNY Oswego in Fall 2024, Linea was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston. Previously, she served as a guest editor for Spectra: The ASPECT Journal, and has published work in Spectra and Environmental Politics. She holds a Ph.D. with a concentration in political thought from the interdisciplinary Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical, and Cultural Thought (ASPECT) doctoral program at Virginia Tech.
