The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to humanity's eternal search for peace and truth.
Oswego Students Inducted into German Honor Society
Two Oswego students were recently inducted into the SUNY Oswego chapter of Delta Phi Alpha, the National German Honor Society. Marie Parker and Maya Sprague were honored for their outstanding academic achievement in German as well as for their participation in cultural events focusing on the German-speaking countries.
The two students share a common interest in the value of studying German at Oswego. Hailing from the Rochester area, Marie Parker is a double major (Global and International Studies, Languages and International Trade) with a focus on German and Japanese. She will study in Osnabrück next semester at Oswego’s partner university in Germany. Longer term, she intends to pursue graduate study before working in international relations or as an intelligence analyst. Maya Sprague, a Wellness Studies major with a minor in German, is originally from Oswego. She will also head to Osnabrück in the spring to study abroad as well as to spend more time with her extended family in Germany. After graduation, she plans to work and live in Germany.
Dr. Patrick Schultz and Dr. Ana Djukic-Cocks of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures welcomed the new members and thanked them for their dedication to German and its attendant cultures.
