About Archives & Special Collections

The Archives & Special Collections at Penfield Library focus on collecting materials of historical value. While some of our materials are related to the history of SUNY Oswego, we also have materials that focus on the history of the city of Oswego, and the history of New York State.

Because of the massive and ever-growing number of individual items preserved in library archives and special collections, there will always be more in the physical collection than we can tell you about on the website. We encourage you to come visit and see what we have!

Find us in the basement of Penfield Library! Turn left after leaving the stairwell or elevator.

University Archives

Would you like to learn more about the past and current history of SUNY Oswego? We have digitized yearbooks, historic photographs, student publications, and more!

Local History

In addition to collecting materials about the university, we also have historical materials about the city and county of Oswego in addition to materials from elsewhere in New York State.

Digital Collections

We're always working to share with a wider audience by digitizing our collections, like our collection of President Millard Fillmore's papers. We also collect materials that were "born digital," like Quest posters.
