The Fulbright-Hays Social Studies curriculum at SUNY Oswego offers a rich collaboration of global-education resources and ready-to-use lesson plans designed for high-school and college instructors. Rooted in the Fulbright tradition of cross-cultural exchange and academic excellence, our program empowers educators to bring diverse perspectives into the classroom — covering history, civics, global issues, economics, and cultural studies. Through curated teaching modules, international case studies, and interactive curricula, Fulbright Social Studies supports meaningful learning that connects local classrooms to a global community.

About the Author

Jing Lei is an accomplished anthropologist and educator at SUNY Oswego whose work embodies the global, cross-cultural vision of the Fulbright Social Studies program. With a deep focus on cultural anthropology, Dr. Lei brings expertise in social dynamics, cross-cultural analysis, and global interconnections to her teaching and scholarship. Her academic approach encourages students to explore societies through multiple lenses—combining history, culture, politics, and human behavior—to foster nuanced understanding of local and global issues. Through her courses and mentorship, Dr. Lei helps students build the critical thinking, empathy, and global awareness fundamental to Fulbright Social Studies.

About the Author

Don Little is a dedicated social studies educator at William Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY. With years of experience teaching Global History & Geography and U.S. Government, he brings a passion for helping students understand the interconnectedness of societies past and present. In addition to core history and civics classes, Mr. Little offers engaging elective courses — covering Anthropology, Film Studies, Ecology & Economic Process, and Psychology — that encourage critical thinking and broaden students’ global and cultural awareness. His commitment to interdisciplinary learning reflects the philosophy at the heart of the Fulbright Social Studies program.

Tom Little is a veteran educator at William Nottingham High School, specializing in Global History & Geography, AP U.S. Government, and a wide range of interdisciplinary electives, including Anthropology, Film Studies, Ecology & Economic Process, and SUPA Psychology. With a commitment to in-depth historical understanding and critical thinking, Mr. Little brings global perspectives into the classroom, helping students connect past and present world events through multiple lenses.
