Steve Mazzoccone

Bio

Steve earned a BA in 2006 in both Theatre and English from SUNY Oswego. His subsequent academic journey included receiving his MFA in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). He also trained directly with Tony Award-winning theatre directors Sharon Ott and Daniel Sullivan, and the notable Anne Bogart and Moises Kaufman. He's worked alongside numerous Broadway actors including Elena Shaddow, Karen Ziemba, Alison Fraser, Tom Hewitt, Shannon Lewis, Kimberly Immanuel and many more. 

Some of the places he's helped create work include the Signature Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Vineyard Theatre, Tectonic Theatre Project, Gingold Theatrical Group, 13th Street Theatre, American Theatre of Actors, The Secret Theatre, Urban Stages, The West End Theatre and Gallery Players. He has worked for national touring theaters (National Theatre for Arts and Education, American Family Theatre) and at regional theaters (Connecticut Free Shakespeare, Valley Shakespeare Festival, Savannah Shakes, Cohoes Musical Hall, La Comedia Dinner Theatre). In the midst of professional work, Steve taught Speech at Dutchess County Community College, and at various studios in New York City, he taught in disciplines such as Movement for the Actor, Acting and Audition Coaching. He also taught theatre at Long Island University as an Artist in Residence, and at the West Side YMCA in New York City. 

In summer 2023, he was brought on to the teaching faculty at the celebrated Powerhouse Theatre Festival for new work at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. He holds membership with the professional stage actor union AEA and the stage directors union SDC.
