David Crider

Bio

David Crider (Ph.D., Temple University, 2014) is an assistant professor of broadcasting in the Department of Communication Studies at SUNY Oswego. He is also faculty advisor for WNYO-FM, Oswego’s student-run radio station. 

Crider is the author of "Performing Personality: On-Air Radio Identities in a Changing Media Landscape," published by Lexington Books in 2016. His research has been published in several journal articles and multiple book chapters. Crider has been the recipient of four Top Paper Awards in Radio and Audio Media, as well as the 2015 Kenneth Harwood Dissertation Award from the Broadcast Education Association. 

Prior to earning his doctorate, he worked in professional radio for 10 years as a talk show producer, sports reporter and alternative rock program director/on-air personality. Crider’s research interests include the presentation and promotion of identity through radio and music promotion, including issues of local and gender identity, as well as programming and industry concerns related to consolidation and localism.
