Jarett Powers

Dr. Jarett Powers

Dr. Powers has served as the Superintendent of the Union Springs Central School District since 2014.  He previously served as social studies department chair, associate principal and principal of Ithaca High School, where he began his career as a social studies teacher.  Powers earned his BA from Ithaca College in social studies education, holds three degrees from SUNY Cortland in education and educational leadership, and earned his doctorate in educational leadership from the Sage Colleges. Powers also completed the Certificate in Education Finance program offered at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University in 2022. Powers was named the distinguished young alumni by SUNY Cortland in 2015 and previously taught at the undergraduate level at both Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland. Powers is the co-author of the book, Evaluating the Superintendent published by Rowman and Littlefied in 2019, and has also co-authored articles and chapters on establishing home-school connections, and school district succession planning.  Powers has presented at state and national conferences on superintendent evaluations and holds certifications in social studies education, business and marketing education, school building leadership, school district leadership, and school district business leadership. A life-long learner, Dr. Powers completed his English as a Second Language teacher certification at Molloy College in December 2022.
