Adan Gomez, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the SUNY Oswego Department of Computer Science. With expertise spanning cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and computational modeling, his research focuses on developing comprehensive frameworks for understanding human cognition through AI-driven approaches. Dr. Gomez Salgado's work bridges theoretical cognitive science with practical applications in robotics, education, and human-computer interaction. Prior to joining Oswego, he was a Full-Time Faculty Member at Universidad de Córdoba in Colombia, where he taught courses ranging from Introduction to Artificial Intelligence to Cognitive Informatics and Programming. A Fulbright Scholar, he completed his Ph.D. in Cognitive Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he developed computational models of self-control within the CLARION cognitive architecture. Currently, I'm working on the creation of a computational framework for embodied self-control in autonomous robotic systems and computational representations of qualia for cognitive systems.
