Kate DeForest is the Web/Digital Content Coordinator at SUNY Oswego, where she oversees website design, content strategy, and accessibility for the university’s primary web presence. She joined the Marketing and Communications team in 2018 as a Digital Accessibility Analyst, quickly becoming a key advocate for inclusive design. Through her contributions with the Workgroup on Accessibility Practices, Kate has led numerous campus trainings and helped shape major digital accessibility initiatives.
Kate’s career began in radio broadcasting after earning her B.A. in Broadcasting and Mass Communication from SUNY Oswego in 1996. Following more than a decade in radio and a chapter in sales, she returned to Oswego to pursue her M.A. in Graphic Design and Digital Media, blending communication, design, and strategy into a new professional focus. Today, she thrives on presenting at conferences and connecting with others in the accessibility and web design space.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys traveling and hiking across Central New York and beyond with her fiancé and their dogs. If she’s not at a jazz concert where her son is playing, she’s likely enjoying a game night with her kids or finding new ways to explore the outdoors.
