Student Professionalism

Professionalism as a specific goal is a necessary and desired objective for all business students. It relates to a high level of commitment in attaining personal and professional goals, concern for completion of academic and business tasks at hand, and to well-developed interpersonal relations with people in the workplace.

Students should read through the information below and be familiar with the standards of professionalism held within the School of Business.

Our History

In 1969, a program in business administration began at SUNY Oswego. Originating as a concentration in economics, the program gained tremendous popularity and continued to develop.

Subsequent approval by the State University of New York permitted the awarding of a bachelor of science degree starting in 1974. Since this time, the business administration department changed and expanded to meet the demand of the students.

In July 1992, the business administration department was reorganized into the renamed School of Business. In October 2002, the School of Business achieved accreditation by the prestigious AACSB International -- the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In August 2003, the School of Business moved into the newly refurbished and state-of-the-art Rich Hall.

The School of Business offers a range of undergraduate programs, several interdisciplinary programs, an MBA and combined five-year BS/MBA and BS/masters of programs to approximately 1,650 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. Housed in renovated Rich Hall, our classes provide practical skills and project-based learning to complement theory, with a strong and successful alumni network that can help you during and after your college years. Graduate students have the option of taking classes online or at the Metro Center branch campus in downtown Syracuse.
