The Workforce Education and Development program prepares you to create effective learning experiences for adults in colleges and universities, workplace training programs, apprenticeship and skills-acquisition programs, workforce development organizations and other professional settings.
Through a 21-credit core and 9 credits of electives, you’ll explore adult education, instructional strategies, curriculum development, diversity and inclusion, and research while tailoring your coursework to your professional interests and career goals.

Submit official transcripts confirming your bachelor’s or master’s degree/advanced certificate. This includes graduate-level coursework or post-baccalaureate degree/certificate. U.S. transcripts must be sent directly from the granting institution (electronic or mail).
We require students to provide a WES Course by Course (ICAP) evaluation, an IEE Education Course Report (US), or TEC (formally known as SpanTran) Divisional Course Analysis for credentials earned outside of the United States. This evaluation ensures that we can provide quality assessment of coursework from all countries where various grading scales and languages may exist.
A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better is recommended for applicants to be competitive in the application process.
GRE scores are not required for graduate admissions at SUNY Oswego. Applicants who believe a GRE score would strengthen their credentials for admission have the option to submit test scores as part of their application package.
Prospective students seeking to teach in an area that differs from the undergraduate area of study will be required to take the OCE to demonstrate proficiency in the desired area of teaching. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the department for guidance regarding the OCE prior to submitting an application.
In 500 words or less, describe your personal achievements relating to your academic interests, and detail your educational and professional objectives with reasoning for applying to SUNY Oswego. This statement will help the review team better understand and evaluate your application.
