Overview

The major prepares students for work in the sound recording and production industry across several platforms, and is responsive to contemporary industry demands for a more specific and hands-on educational background.

In addition to core courses in music theory, history and application, students learn a broad range of audio production techniques applicable to music, theater, and electronic media, as well as the opportunity to pursue further subjects on the physics of sound and music, the art of songwriting, and the business of music.

During their studies, students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships at the many arts and broadcasting organizations in Central New York.

Renovated Tyler Hall

The recently renovated Tyler hall hosts a fully-equipped multi-station computer MIDI lab and a digital multi-track based recording studio designed to prepare students for working in the world of professional music production.
