Coordinator of Work-based Learning
Master of Science (MS)The Coordinator of Work-based Learning program is in the Career and Technical Educator Preparation Department (CTE), which is one of six departments in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services.

Overview
This program comprises two courses that focus on developing competence essential in planning and organizing a work-based learning program for teachers seeking certification as coordinators of work-based learning programs. Study and practice in compiling and preparing occupational analyses, training outlines, community (business-industry) surveys and plans for instructional facilities are included.
Candidates must hold a valid initial, professional, or permanent New York State teacher certification in any title at the middle childhood education (grades 5-9), adolescence education (grades 7-12), or “all grade” levels, or school counselor certification. Additionally candidates shall have completed 600 clock hours of work experience outside of teaching in the classroom teaching service. Curriculum
Master of Science
Designed for workforce educators
Build the knowledge and skills to educate adult learners in workplace, postsecondary and career and technical education settings. The program is specifically designed for professionals who do not need teacher certification.
Outcomes
Successful completion of both courses, offered at both the undergraduate or graduate level, will provide you with the tools and skills necessary to implement and operate a Work-based Learning program. Work-based Learning programs are key components to the Career and Technical Education Endorsement for the New York State Regents diploma, and your certification extension in this area is crucial to CTE Endorsement for each student who meets the requirements.

Application Requirements
Official transcript
Submit official transcripts confirming your bachelor’s or master’s degree/advanced certificate. This includes graduate-level coursework or post-baccalaureate degree/certificate. U.S. transcripts must be sent directly from the granting institution (electronic or mail).
We require students to provide a WES Course by Course (ICAP) evaluation, an IEE Education Course Report (US), or TEC (formally known as SpanTran) Divisional Course Analysis for credentials earned outside of the United States. This evaluation ensures that we can provide quality assessment of coursework from all countries where various grading scales and languages may exist.
Statement of purpose
In 500 words or less, describe your personal achievements relating to your academic interests, and detail your educational and professional objectives with reasoning for applying to SUNY Oswego. This statement will help the review team better understand and evaluate your application.
Resume
Include a professional resume or curriculum vitae that includes your academic history, professional background and any accomplishments of note. This document should provide details that support your admittance to the program.
Two letters of recommendation
Indicate two names with valid email addresses. We will send an email request directly to the references on your behalf. These references should be able to speak to your character, work ethic and abilities.
Application fee
Prospective students are charged a non-refundable $65 fee for processing the application.
International admissions
All international transcripts must be verified using one of the following methods as part of your application process:
- WES Course by Course (ICAP) evaluation,
- an IEE Education Course Report (US),
- or TEC (formally known as SpanTran) Divisional Course Analysis.
Send English Language Proficiency scores directly to SUNY Oswego (College code: 2543).
- Submit official TOEFL score of 79 (4.5) or higher overall,
- or a 6.5 IELTS score,
- or a 110 Duolingo score.
Visa and I-20 Documentation: After acceptance, upload your financial documents and passport copy to receive your Form I-20 for your visa application.
