The Childhood Education M.S.T. is a clinically rich graduate program that begins in May and concludes the following May. Through a cohort model, students move through the program together while completing coursework and supervised field placements that connect theory to classroom practice.
You’ll learn how to create inclusive, effective and engaging learning experiences for children in grades 1–6. Coursework and field experiences help you develop teaching plans, assessment strategies and reflective practices that support diverse learners.
Following successful completion of the program, candidates are eligible for New York State initial teaching certification.
Curriculum
The curriculum combines graduate coursework with supervised field placements so students can connect what they learn to real classroom settings. Students study teaching methods, learning theory, assessment, inclusive practices, classroom planning and professional responsibilities.
Because this is a full-time, cohort-based program at the Syracuse Campus, prospective students should review the program sequence and application timeline carefully before applying.
