James Precious

Precious James is a student leader passionate about representation, student engagement and building a strong sense of community at SUNY Oswego. A criminal justice major with a minor in communications, she currently serves as president of the Student Association, where she is focused on improving students’ day-to-day campus experience, increasing involvement and creating opportunities for students to connect and have their voices heard.

Previously, Precious served as president of the African Student Organization, where she worked to create a welcoming community for students of African descent while providing opportunities for the broader campus community to learn about and experience African cultures. Through events, collaborations and conversations, she helped strengthen cultural representation and connection across campus.

Beyond her elected leadership, Precious serves as a resident assistant, EOP ambassador and success coach with the Office of Experiential Learning. In these roles, she supports students as they adjust to college life, connect with resources, navigate new experiences and find a sense of belonging at Oswego.

Passionate about representation, equity and student engagement, Precious strives to make sure students feel seen, included and connected. Across her leadership roles, she aims to create a campus experience where students can build community, get involved and feel at home at Oswego.
