External Engagement

  • Attended the virtual meeting hosted by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), engaging with commissioners, presidents, provosts, accreditation liaison officers (ALOs), and system partners.
  • Attended the Comprehensive Sector Presidents and SUNY System meeting via Zoom.
  • Met with Dr. Chol Majok, Syracuse Common Councilor At-Large.
  • Met with Erastus Lokaale, Kenya's ambassador to the United Nations.
  • Met with NY Senate District 48 Senator Rachel May, and NY Senate District 48 Director of Constituent Services & Grant Administrator Tatiana Parker, joined by Director of Operations, Office of the President Jamal Coleman, Vice President for Enrollment Management Cory Bezek, Assistant Vice President for Workforce Innovation and External Relations Kristi Eck, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Scott Furlong and Dean of Extended Learning Jill Pippin.
  • Attended the 2024 American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) annual conference in Puerto Rico and participated in a panel discussion on "Campus Infrastructure: Heartache to Resource," with Principal and National Practice Lead, Education for the U.S Alex Ray, Vice President and Managing Director Marcus Craig and President of Arkansas State University System Brendan Kelly.
  • Attended the Middle State Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) annual conference in Philadelphia, PA.
  • Met with alumni donors in Houston, Texas, with Vice President for University Advancement Mary Canale.
  • Met with Liz Fanning, founder of CorpsAfrica, and their leadership team.
  • Held a SUNY Africa Initiative meeting with SUNY Polytechnic Institute President Winston Oluwole Soboyejo and our Associate Provost for International Education and Programs Josh McKeown.
  • Met with Ashley Zohn from the Knight Foundation and their leadership team, joined by Interim Vice President for Communications and Marketing Karen Crowe, Deputy Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Anneke McEvoy, Assistant Vice President Eck, Provost Furlong and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Visited G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, NY, where I met with their leadership team and counselors, including Superintendent Brian Pulvino, Principal Nathan Murry, Assistant Principal Amy Stephenson, Assistant Principal Ryan Fluent, Executive Director of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) Jeff Hendric, District Clerk Jean Perry, Counselor Kelly Rickert, and Executive Director of Humanities Renee Hendric. Joining us were Director of Operations Coleman, Vice President Bezek, and Assistant Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid Rodrick Andrews.
  • Held a meeting with Oswego City High School leadership including Principal Raina Hinman, Assistant Principal Kirk Mulverhill and Counselor Dylan Vitale. We were joined by Director of Operations Coleman, Vice President Bezek, and Assistant Vice President Andrews.
  • Met with the leadership team of the Oswego County Office of Strategic Initiatives, including the office’s director, Dave Turner, as well as Director of Community Development, Tourism and Planning Tim Stahl, and Strategic Program Specialist Kyle Boeckman. The meeting also included Director of Operations Coleman, Vice President Bezek, Assistant Vice President Eck, Provost Furlong, Dean Pippin, and Director of Career Services Gary Morris.
  • Had a phone meeting with Dana John Cohick from RPA Inc., the search firm managing the search for our new vice president for university advancement.
  • Chaired the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) Management, Development, and Compensation (MDC) Committee meeting via Zoom.
  • Chaired the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) winter board meeting via Zoom.
  • Participated in the CenterState CEO board of directors meeting.
  • Attended the Operation Oswego County (OOC) board meeting.

Internal Engagement

  • Led the President’s Council meeting attended by leaders from the university’s various departments and divisions.
  • Continued to hold meetings with individual faculty, staff, and students across the university.
  • Met with Dr. John Jasinski, our facilitator from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), joined by Provost Furlong, Director of Operations Coleman, Director of Institutional Research and Assessment Deborah Furlong, and Senior Staff Assistant Mary Ann Preston.
  • Met with faculty in the communication studies department, accompanied by Jennifer Knapp, dean of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts (SCMA), and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Met with faculty in the health promotion and wellness department accompanied by Laura Spenceley, dean of the School of Education, and Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Conducted meetings with the final three candidates for the vice president for university advancement position.
  • Held a phone meeting with Heath Wood, who will join SUNY Oswego as our new vice president for university advancement next month.
  • Attended the 9th Annual Building Men Program luncheon at NBT Bank Stadium joined by Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Attended the Pan Africa student event organized by the Africa Student Organization, joined by Director of Operations Coleman.
  • Attended SUNY Oswego’s annual community breakfast.
