Pre-Law Studies

Joseph T. Twarog attended the University at Buffalo School of Law. After graduating from Oswego in 2009 with a BS in finance he spent the summer interning in the commercial loan department at Pathfinder Bank. He then clerked for a federal magistrate judge in the Western District of New York. Joseph may be reached at [email protected].

Joshua Hurwit graduated from the University at Buffalo Law School in May 2008. Prior to entering law school, he was an editorial assistant and staff writer at the Times Union in Albany. Jason R. Denny received his Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 2009. He is currently practicing law with Hill & Fischer, P.C. in Syracuse. In conjunction with litigation, he also handles business law and real estate matters. He also has taught BRC 319: Mass Media and the Law on the SUNY Oswego campus. Prior to attending law school, he graduated suma cum laude from SUNY Oswego in 2005 with a BA in philosophy/psychology and a minor in business administration. Timothy Bunsic graduated in December 1998 with a BA in public justice followed by graduating from Nova Southeastern University School of Law in May 2002 with his JD and passed the Florida bar exam given in July of that same year. Additionally, he was licensed to practice law in Tennessee in 2008. His practice focuses primarily on civil litigation including personal injury and wrongful death. John J. Cavo graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law in May 2000 with high honors. He was editor-in-chief of the St. Thomas Law Review and served on the Executive Board of Moot Court. He is currently employed by Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP in Miami, Florida. His areas of practice are in insurance coverage and general civil litigation. Maria Millares is currently working for the Export-Import Bank of the United States. After graduating from Oswego as a double major in economics and mathematics, Maria received her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and spent several years working for a large national law firm. Her current work involves providing the legal documentation for international transactions involving U.S. exports. Maria may be reached by email at: [email protected].

Arthur Prostick is currently a public finance associate with the law firm of Brown and Wood in New York. He notes that he's been able to use his economics training quite a bit as part of his practice in public finance law. After graduating from Oswego with a BA degree in economics, Arthur received his law degree at Albany Law School in 1998. He has worked in corporate securities and public finance departments. William Kennon Reed is currently practicing law in Asheville, N.C. He is specializing in real estate, business and environmental law. After graduating from Oswego with a double major in economics and political science, William completed his JD degree in 1995 at the Washington College of Law at American University. He received an MA degree in law and international affairs at American University in 1997. He notes that he actively plays and referees ice hockey, a love of which was developed at Oswego. Arik Turner studied of Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in the top 10 percent of his class. Arik graduated from Oswego with a major in public justice and a minor in economics. He notes that Dr. Larry Spizman's classes in Labor Law (Eco 355) and Law and Economics (Eco 356) were extremely helpful in making the transition to law school. Robert Whitaker attended law school at the University of Buffalo, appearing in the top 15 percent of his class and as a member of the Buffalo Law Review. He earned a BA in history at Oswego and attributes much of his success in law school to the educational foundation he received at Oswego, particularly under the guidance of Dr. Leo Hernandez. James Bullard, a graduate of Washington and Lee School of Law, completed Oswego's Honors Program with degrees in political science and American history. At Oswego, he was active in student council, the Oswegonian, and varsity lacrosse. He advises future 1Ls to take Constitutional Law, International Law, and Business Law, and to master reading court cases. He also recommends maintaining a strong GPA, preparing for the LSAT at least three months ahead, and following Dr. Steven Abraham's guidance on law school application materials.
