Noah Melita win men's 8K, Laker women second overall at SUNYAC Cross Country Championships
The Laker women's team placed second overall, while the men's team had an historic individual first-place finish at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Noah Melita placed first in the men's 8K with a time of 25:51.0 to become the men's overall first-place finisher. Melita ended a 43-year-drought for the Lakers men's cross country team, who had not had a men's individual champion in cross country since 1983. He posted a 5:12.0 average mile. Overall, the team finished ninth.
The women's second-place finish is the highest finish in program history, thanks to a solid team effort:
- Kyra Pellegrino finished fourth in the women's 6K with a time of 22:29.5. She averaged 6:01.9 per mile and scored four points.
- Elena Gaffney placed fifth in the women's 6K in 22:44.3. She averaged 6:05.9 per mile and scored five points.
