Grant funds new MedSafe dropbox at University Police
Recognizing the addition of a MedSafe Dropbox to SUNY Oswego's University Police in Pathfinder Hall are, from left, Kyle McCauley and Dylan Lavner, both care coordination specialists for the Oswego County Prevention Coalition; Scott Swayze, chief of University Police; and Trisha DeWolf, assistant dean of students for alcohol and other drug education for SUNY Oswego.
The Oswego County Prevention Coalition, in partnership with SUNY Oswego, is pleased to announce the grant-funded installation of a new MedSafe prescription drug disposal dropbox on campus. Located inside the University Police Department, Pathfinder Hall, this initiative marks the seventh safe disposal dropbox to be installed across Oswego County as part of the coalition's mission to eliminate medical waste and dispose of prescription drugs safely.
While conveniently situated on the SUNY Oswego campus, this disposal site is fully open and accessible to the general public, as well as students, faculty and staff. The secure dropbox offers all community members a discreet and safe way to dispose of unwanted, unused or expired medications. Accepted: All standard prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and controlled substances. Not accepted: Sharps or needles of any kind.
The community is encouraged to utilize this new resource to ensure proper medication disposal and help keep the campus and surrounding community safe. Other coalition dropbox locations in Oswego County include the Oswego Police Department, Fulton Police Department, Central Square Police Department, Pulaski Police Department, Oswego County Sheriff's Department and the Office for the Aging Senior Center.
