Prospective students and their families can experience SUNY Oswego firsthand this fall, with two Open Houses offering opportunities to explore academics, student life and what it means to be a Laker.

SUNY Oswego will host its first Fall Open House on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on its lakeside campus. A second Open House will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11, during the same hours.

Both events give future Lakers and their families a chance to move beyond the college search and begin picturing what their own Oswego experience could look like.

Visitors can tour campus; meet faculty, staff and current students; explore academic programs; connect with student clubs and organizations; and attend presentations on admissions, financial aid, student life and more.

Along the way, students can ask questions about subjects that interest them, discover opportunities to get involved and learn more about the hands-on experiences that can prepare them for life after college.

Finding futures

For families weighing the value of a college education, SUNY Oswego’s graduate outcomes provide another perspective on where that experience can lead.

According to the university’s most recent Graduate Outcomes report, 96 percent of Class of 2025 respondents reported being employed, continuing their education or both. Among graduates working full time, 94 percent reported working in their field of choice.

Many of those graduates are also putting their education to work close to home. The report shows that 86 percent of employed graduates are working in New York state, with 54 percent working in Central New York.

Those outcomes reflect SUNY Oswego’s commitment to connecting an accessible public education with meaningful career opportunities while preparing graduates to contribute to communities across the region and state.

An Open House offers students an opportunity to begin making those connections before they enroll -- whether that means talking with faculty members about a potential major, meeting current students, learning about financial aid or simply walking the lakeside campus and imagining themselves as part of the Laker community.
