In addition to the resources provided by Penfield Library, there are several libraries across the state that provide access to any New York state resident. Their offerings include ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, databases, and more. You can also check out physical items from these libraries if you're in the area.

New York Public Library
All New York residents over the age of 13 are eligible for a library card at the New York Public Library (located in New York City).

- Search for ebooks & audiobooks (use the "e-book" or "e-audiobook" filters on the left to narrow your results)
- Access magazines & newspapers using PressReader
- Access databases remotely
Queens Public Library
Anyone is eligible for a library card at the Queens Public Library. Children under the age of 12 will need parent permission to sign up for a card.
- Apply for a library card

- Search for audiobooks
- Access magazines, newspapers, & more (click "Books, Movies, & More" then "Periodicals")
- Access databases remotely (all databases should be accessible remotely unless it indicates in-library or specific library use only)
Brooklyn Public Library
All New York residents are eligible for a library card at the Brooklyn Public Library. Children under the age of 13 will need parent permission to sign up for a card.
- Apply for a library card
- Search for ebooks & audiobooks (use the "ebook" or "audiobook" filters on the left to narrow your results)
- Access databases remotely (use the filters on the left to narrow your results to "Library card required")
Buffalo & Erie County Library
- Apply for a library card
- Access ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, videos, and more (check the "Downloads" section)
- Access databases remotely (avoid resources that say they're only available in the library)
New York State Library
While all New York state residents are eligible for a New York State Library card, services are limited based on your job. (Attorneys, historians, physicians, and government employees have special privileges and database access that others do not. Retired government employees do have special privileges as well, which may be of interest to emeritus faculty.)

NOVELny provides access to several databases, and can be accessed:
- Anywhere in New York state - without a login or password
- Outside of New York state - if you have a NY driver's license, non-driver ID, or a library card from a public library in New York
