ILL Lending

The information on this page is for libraries borrowing materials from Penfield. Requests for items are only accepted via Alma, OCLC/ILLiad, ALA form, or via email. Penfield Library follows the most current approved ALA Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States, as well as copyright laws and CONTU guidelines. Rush requests are accommodated as time and staffing permit.

Material Availability for ILL Lending

All circulating materials are available for lending EXCEPT for those listed below:

  • Technology (laptops, iPads, cameras, etc.)
  • Course reserves
  • Reference collection materials
  • Print periodicals
  • Materials from Archives & Special Collections
  • Puppets and games from the Teaching Resource Center collection

We typically do not loan microfilm or microfiche, but we may be able to make an exception depending on the material. Please email us with further questions.


Loans: Free
Copies: Free - first 50 pages; may be fewer if oversized

Loan Period and Renewal

Monographs: 16 weeks, no renewals
Media: 2 weeks, no renewals

Lost Items

Material that is four months overdue is declared lost and invoiced. Failure to respond to invoices in a timely manner may result in suspension of borrowing privileges. Replacement items will be accepted on a case-by-case basis with pre-approval.
