Designed to help students start at Oswego prepared, supported, and confident, the program strengthens academic readiness through college-level coursework, individualized support, and early connection to campus resources — providing a strong foundation for the Oswego experience.

How Students Are Selected

Admissions reviews each student holistically. Academic performance, including GPA, is one of several factors considered during the application review process.

For some students, Admissions determines that a structured summer experience will best support a successful transition to college. In those cases, students may be invited to participate in the Laker Scholars Program based on their academic promise, potential to succeed, and overall holistic application review.

  • Students apply to Oswego through the standard application process
  • Students do not apply directly to the Laker Scholars Program
  • Invitations are extended after application review
  • Participation is optional; however, students who wish to accept their conditional offer and transition to full admission must complete the program
