Jessica Harris

Dr. Jessica Harris is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Wellness at SUNY Oswego. She received her Ed. D from St. John Fisher College in Executive Leadership where her research focused on “Knowledge, Behavior, and Attitudes of College Students Regarding HIV/AIDS.” Her M.S. was in Health Science from the University of Arkansas where her research focused on “Sexual Pleasure and Enhancement: Implications for College Sexuality Education.” Her B.S. was in Community Health Education from the University of Maine at Farmington.

Dr. Harris teaches introduction to health promotion and wellness, sexual wellness, program planning, implementation, and evaluation and research at SUNY Oswego. She also serves as the faculty advisor for Eta Sigma Gamma the National Health Education Honorary Society the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter. She is currently serving as the COLT chair on the SUNY Oswego campus, and is working with new incoming freshman and transfers as part of the new advising center at SUNY Oswego. Dr. Harris is a certified health education specialist (CHES®) and is nationally certified by the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA Level I).

Dr. Harris research interests are in the area of sexual wellness, HIV/AIDS, and college sexuality education. Dr. Harris has published manuscripts in the journal of health promotion practice and the journal of health science. Currently, Dr. Harris is working with several students on independent research programs ranging from Sickle Cell Disease to Food Insecurity.
