“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive such dedicated guidance and support throughout my time at SUNY Oswego. From the moment I began the transfer process, I felt supported every step of the way. The transition from my previous university was made smooth and stress-free, and I always had access to the information and resources I needed to make well-informed decisions about course selection and academic planning.
The advisement I received helped me reach both my short-term and long-term academic and career goals, and I always felt like I had someone in my corner who genuinely cared about my success. I am pleased to have returned and completed my degree at Oswego after I finished the NYPD Academy. This program has helped me accomplish exactly what I set out to do and will no doubt continue to support me on my future path.”

“Oswego is the school that helped me find the path to my dreams. In May 2025, I walked across the stage to receive a diploma that represents much more than completed coursework—it symbolizes growth, perseverance, and faith.
There were many moments when I wanted to give up. I always believed I’d finish my degree. I tried different schools and degrees, but nothing seemed to fit. I was a fighter and deep down. Oswego just felt right. Along the way, countless people supported me, and I’m deeply thankful for their encouragement and belief in me.
To anyone who doubts their ability to do school: You can. With discipline, hard work, and belief in yourself, anything is possible.
Thank you, SUNY Oswego. I’m forever grateful for this chapter in my journey."

"I could not have made a better choice that to attend Oswego online. I work a full-time plus a part-time job and I was struggling to finish my degree because I could not fit in-person classes into my schedule.
While I am more of an in-person learning due to my learning disability, I have found that the professors are still available, helpful, and flexible. I am so happy to finally be able to finish my degree and chase after my dream job."

"I am a single mother of four special needs children; a daughter, 16, and three sons, ages 13, 11, and 3. We were longtime NY residents before moving to South Carolina in 2019.
When I decided to return to school to get my Bachelors degree 17 years after earning my Associations degree at SUNY Morrisville, I looked at many local options before choosing to apply for a SUNY program to maximize my credit transfer. Since I live 900 miles away, I knew I could have to choose a program that was fully virtual. I wanted to continue a degree in health related studies, and in the end I settle on the Wellness Management program at SUNY Oswego.
Being an online student allows me to work around my children's busy schedules, filled with therapy appointments, meetings, and extracurricular activities. I have the flexibility to work on assignments whenever I have a spare moment, yet still connect with faculty members and other students in my major. I can work at my own pace and gain valuable experience in remote communication and teamwork.

"I chose SUNY Oswego because of their desire for excellence in business and being the highest-ranked public institution in New York State for Business Administration. The online program has been great. It allows me the flexibility I need to finish my degree while still pursuing a very busy professional career. I would recommend SUNY Oswego to anyone who is looking for a top notch education with extraordinary faculty."

"Hi. My name is Shantie Krissoondatt and I am 31 years old. I was born in Guyana and moved to New York when I was about six. I currently live in Queens with my husband and our two daughters. I didn't truly understand the value of education until I started my own family.
SUNY Oswego was the perfect fit for me, allowing me to stay at home with my children while pursuing my academic goals. I'm so grateful the school offered everything I was looking for - especially the ability to complete my Bachelors degree from home.
I never realized what a privilege and a necessity flexible education was until I decided to return to school. I still surprise myself with how I manage assignments and exams while caring for my family. It's not always easy, but my kids motivate me every day. They remind me that all the hard work, long hours, and sleepless nights are worth it.
Beyond reaching my own goals, I want to show my children the importance of perseverance and never giving up. I'm especially thankful for my husband, whose support has made this journey possible.

The online public relations program has been amazing! Fresh out of high school I took classes for marketing and I had an intro PR class that I fell in love with. That is when I knew I wanted to do PR. I found out that I love messaging and relationship building. After years of being out of college and relocating to Brooklyn, NY, I wanted to give school another chance. SUNY Oswego had the PR program that fit into my life.
Creating a plan of attack with assignments and a plan to rest, helped insure my success. My advisors not only helped me understand the classes I needed to take, they also encouraged me to only take what I could handle. I didn't feel pressured - I felt supported. I felt safe about making the decision to return to school and finish what I started years ago.
The professors are helpful. The advisors are helpful. The students are helpful. It is a real community.
While taking the time to complete my degree, I also worked full-time as an association IT project manager in the cyber resiliency group at the Depository Trust Clearing Corp. The flexibility of the online program is what helped me make the decision to come to SUNY Oswego.

I think my biggest inspiration for a career in law enforcement comes from wanting change. I fell in love with my major the moment I took my first criminal justice class. Throughout my time at Oswego, I’ve enjoyed the privilege of taking classes which have openly discussed the failures of the American criminal justice system. I believe one of the best ways to enact change is from within the system itself, creating a generation of law enforcement professionals who recognize and address these criticisms.
My biggest piece of advice for those interested in criminal justice and law enforcement is to be critical. The best kind of people for this career path (in my opinion) are those who can recognize the flaws and shortcomings of the system. There’s no shame in speaking up about the problems around you. Take advantage of the courses here and learn about the issues, understand the history, read the uncomfortable stories that make your skin crawl. And then use that knowledge to make a difference.

"SUNY Oswego has been so welcoming to online students! I have been so touched that you have gone out of your way to show us all the resources we may need and that you want us to feel like we belong. I am so excited to be a student at Oswego and to visit campus sometimes, even though I live a couple of hours away.
Thank you so much and keep up the amazing work you're doing!"

"The most unique experience as a student [that I have had is] learning some things or studying some things that I thought that I was not going to enjoy, ones that I thought that I would dislike, that actually ended up being very interesting. My goal is to work in addiction services to help others regain control of their lives and become productive members of society.
