"The online programs at Oswego allowed me to successfully balance my professional and personal responsibilities while staying focused on my education. I am especially grateful for the motivation and support I received - it is incredibly refreshing to have an academic advisor who genuinely cares about both my success and overall well-being."

Francesca Clements

During my senior year at SUNY Oswego, I completed the police academy, entered field training with the Geneva Police Department, and secured a full-time position while continuing my coursework. In early November, I completed field training and now serve as a solo patrol officer.

A major reason I was able to accomplish so much at once is the strength of SUNY Oswego's online program. The flexibility, organization, and accessibility of the online classes allowed me to balance academy days, rotating field-training shifts, and coursework without falling behind.

Because of Oswego's online degree program and the support of my advisor, I have been able to start my law enforcement career early, serve my community as a patrol officer, and continue progressing toward my degree with confidence.

Joseph Iannello

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive such dedicated guidance and support throughout my time at SUNY Oswego. From the moment I began the transfer process, I felt supported every step of the way. The transition from my previous university was smooth and stress-free, and I always had access to the information and resources needed to make informed decisions about course selection and academic planning.

The advisement I received helped me reach both my short-term and long-term academic and career goals. I always felt like I had someone in my corner who genuinely cared about my success. I am pleased to have returned and completed my degree at Oswego after finishing the NYPD Academy. This program helped me accomplish exactly what I set out to do and will continue to support me on my future path.”

“Oswego is the school that helped me find the path to my dreams. In May 2025, I walked across the stage to receive a diploma that represents more than completed coursework—it symbolizes growth, perseverance, and faith.

There were many moments when I wanted to give up, but I always believed I would finish my degree. I tried different schools and programs, but nothing felt right until Oswego. Along the way, many people supported me, and I’m deeply grateful for their encouragement.

To anyone who doubts their ability to succeed in school: you can. With discipline, hard work, and belief in yourself, anything is possible.

Thank you, SUNY Oswego. I’m forever grateful for this chapter in my journey.”

"I could not have made a better choice than to attend Oswego online. I work a full-time and a part-time job, and I was struggling to finish my degree because I could not fit in-person classes into my schedule.

While I prefer in-person learning due to my learning disability, I found that professors were still available, helpful, and flexible. I am so happy to finally finish my degree and pursue my dream job."

Cali Eddy and her family

"I am a single mother of four children with special needs, and we moved from New York to South Carolina in 2019.

Seventeen years after earning my associate degree from SUNY Morrisville, I decided to return to school. Living far away, I needed a fully online program and chose SUNY Oswego’s Wellness Management program to continue my studies and maximize my transfer credits.

Being an online student allows me to balance coursework with my children’s busy schedules. I can complete assignments on my own time while still connecting with faculty and classmates and gaining valuable experience in remote communication and teamwork."

"I chose SUNY Oswego for its strong reputation in business and its ranking as a top public institution in New York State for Business Administration. The online program has been great, giving me the flexibility to complete my degree while maintaining a busy professional career. I would recommend SUNY Oswego to anyone seeking a high-quality education with outstanding faculty."

Shantie Krissoondatt

"My name is Shantie Krissoondatt, and I am 31 years old. I was born in Guyana and moved to New York as a child. I now live in Queens with my husband and two daughters, and I came to truly value education after starting my own family.

SUNY Oswego was the perfect fit, allowing me to stay home with my children while pursuing my degree. I am grateful for the flexibility to complete my bachelor's degree online.

Balancing school and family life is not always easy, but my children motivate me every day. They remind me that the hard work and long hours are worth it.

I also want to show my children the importance of perseverance and never giving up. I am especially thankful for my husband, whose support made this journey possible."

Tunichia Grant

"The online public relations program has been amazing. After discovering my passion for PR in an introductory class, I knew I wanted to pursue it. Years later, after relocating to Brooklyn, I decided to return to school, and SUNY Oswego offered a program that fit my life.

Creating a plan for assignments and rest helped ensure my success. My advisors guided me through course selection and encouraged me to take on a manageable workload. I felt supported and confident in returning to finish my degree.

The professors, advisors, and students are all helpful—it truly feels like a community.

While completing my degree, I worked full-time as an IT project manager. The flexibility of the online program made it possible and helped me choose SUNY Oswego."

Janelle Sanchez

I am inspired to pursue a career in law enforcement because I want to create change. I developed a passion for criminal justice after my first class and valued courses that examined the system’s challenges. I believe meaningful change comes from within by building a generation of professionals who recognize and address these issues.

My advice to those interested in this field is to think critically. The best professionals are those who acknowledge the system’s flaws and are willing to speak up. Take advantage of your courses, learn the history, engage with difficult topics, and use that knowledge to make a difference.

"One of my most meaningful experiences as a student has been discovering interest in subjects I did not expect to enjoy. My goal is to work in addiction services to help others regain control of their lives and become productive members of society."
