Terrian Garvis (he/him) is the Assistant Director of the James A. Triandiflou '88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Transformative Practice. Terrian centers his work and interests around belongingness and self-development for staff and students. His interests are in males of color success programming, first generation student support, and retention/engagement of new professionals. Terrian comes to Oswego from SUNY Brockport where he was the Transition & Success Coordinator in the Academic Success Center. There he worked to build bridges and extend connections for the males of color success initiative program Talon Academy. Terrian also worked to support first generation awareness, military/veteran affiliation, and summer bridge programming. In addition, he taught the first year seminar course, assisted students on academic probation, and advised students through their academic journey. He enjoys fitness-related activities such as working out, yoga, and hiking, providing affirmative quotes/statements, traveling, and enjoying food.
