Transition Timeline

Timeline for Faculty Transition

All SUNY Oswego courses taught or supplemented with Blackboard will be taught in Brightspace in the Fall 2022 semester. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace throughout the Summer 2022 semester.

The SUNY Oswego Digital Learning Environment (DLE) transition team, composed of staff from Extended Learning and CTS, has been working on the migration from Blackboard to Brightspace since January 2022.

On March 25, the SUNY Oswego Brightspace instance became available to the DLE transition team.  The team worked on configuring the system to meet summer semester needs and made it available to faculty teaching summer pilot courses on April 11.

The team continued configuration of the system working on student information system (SIS) and third party (Panopto, Zoom, e-text inclusive access, etc.) integrations. On May 26, the SIS integration was completed and Brightspace became available for the rest of the campus to access. All fall courses and enrollments into those courses have been loaded into the system.

Faculty can refer to the Help and Support page to get started with migrating courses for the fall 2022 semester.

Summer Pilot Courses

Due to the tight timeline needed to get our Brightspace environment configured, approximately twenty faculty are participating in the pilot with the majority participating in the latter half of summer session.  Those faculty have been accessing Brightspace to actively prepare their summer courses. All other summer session courses will continue to be taught in Blackboard.
