Dr. Murat Yaşar serves as the Deputy to the President for Strategy, Planning, and Special Projects at SUNY Oswego. In this capacity, he acts as a senior advisor to the President, overseeing the alignment of the university’s strategic priorities with its mission and goals. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, Dr. Yaşar leads the implementation and evaluation of the university’s strategic plan and Vision 4040, advancing the Oswego Promise of expanding access to higher education. He represents the President in labor relations with unions, including UUP, CSEA, and PEF. Additionally, he directs the President’s Professional Development Series, which focuses on building leadership capacity through initiatives such as the annual retreat and strategic planning sessions.

With over a decade of service at SUNY Oswego, Dr. Yaşar has held various academic and administrative roles, most recently as Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. An accomplished scholar of Ottoman and Eurasian history, he has published extensively in his field, including a widely regarded book. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, his M.A. from Bilkent University, and his B.Sc. from Middle East Technical University.
